NC Capital & Accessory Apartments FAQ

The tiny-house movement is an architectural and social movement that advocates living simply in small homes. Typically, a tiny house can range anywhere from 100 – 500 square feet.  However, Windsor’s bylaws currently mandate a minimum 430 square feet. At NC Capital we take on projects of any size.

Second units (also known as accessory or basement apartments, secondary suites and in-law flats) are self-contained residential units with kitchen and bathroom facilities within dwellings or within accessory structures (for example, within a detached garage). More info found at City of Windsor

Of course! We would perform an initial assessment of the land and primary building (if existing) to determine if your desired project falls within city guidelines and building codes. Feel free to get in touch, we are always eager to help!

We always suggest consulting with a designer or architect in relation to planning your build. Each new building must comply with Ontario Building Code, as well as City of Windsor Accessory Apartment bylaws. When building with NC Capital, we will handle all of this for you. Feel free to contact us for a consultation.

Building Permits can be obtained online or directly from the Building and Planning Department at the City of Windsor. More information on Building Permits
